Wanted to create a few more British Open courses for this game. When looking at Birkdale, tested out the 04 Stock Course, really liked it. Felt it could be rebuilt and upgraded for the modern TW game. Decided to use many of the concepts and ideas from the 04 course. The course itself is not an EA Sports Stock course copy. Stayed true the course using similar textures, the double edged cart paths and similar type pano. The detail and design concepts are different.
ROYAL BIRKDALE - Southport UK - 1889
The Royal Birkdale Golf Club was started in 1889 by 9 founding members. The course underwent major redesign in the 1930s by the Hawtree and J.H. Taylor course architect company. Updated dramatically for the 1961 Open, the course was modified to better accommodate spectators. In 1991-92 all the greens were completely dug up and redesigned. Host to 8 Open Championships, this course is considered one of the premiere links-style British courses. |
