Ok there seems to be a 50/50 shot your going to have a problem when installing courses or libraries. Why im just not sure yet, but Im pretty sure it has to do with Vistas annoying file and folder permissions and .NET Framework. Since I dont own Vista and have no plans of upgrading I need your help if your having problems. The first thing I want you to do is make sure you have the most current version of .NET Framework.

Next make sure you are not running Windows Vista 64.
Next make sure your PC has ALLL possible updates.

NEXT By all means PLEASE read this...

TruBluMich:

First of all, thanks to you for the all the assistance you provide everyone.

Secondly, my PC crashed and I was using the 32 bit Vista OS. My new computer is Vista 64 bit and I can download TWcaddie and am running TW08. However, when I try to install the zip file, I get an error message (Access to the path C:\Program Files\CourseDownloads.com\TW Caddie 08 - Vista 64\Temporary Install Files\001 is denied) Is Vista 64 not compatible? Is there something I am missing or can do to download the other courses? I really enjoyed having them.

Thanks again for your help.

You need to give the folder Read/Write Permissions for your user.

Hi,

For some reason, I can't use TWC. I don't have any idea why. It will not allow me to run it as "Administrator". When I installed it - I'm using your 64bit version, I first tried to install it for anybody, then just for me. I get the same results both times. I have UAC turned on, and I am logged in as the Administrator. Every other program I have will allow me to run it as the "Administrator".

Could it be something to do with the installation directory? I don't know, maybe it is trying to install in a corrupted area. I'm just not sure what the problem is.

Thanks for your reply, and I'm looking forward to hearing from you again.

Are you getting any type of errors when it installs or is it just not working?

Hi,

Sorry I didn't respond immediately to your message, but my computer crashed. Smoke and everything!

Anyway, I hooked up my other machine - which is pretty new, and installed TWC on it. Unfortunately, I am having the same problem. I am confident in the performance of the machine.

I am able to load the program, but it doesn't recognize any of the golf courses. I haven't installed the "Course Architect", is that a problem?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Saxman

If courses are not showing up it usually has to deal with permission settings for your registry.

This might sound ignorant, I don't use Vista, but a buddy of mine was asking me the other day who doesn't use Vista either, (he was curious) if it was
possible just to turn off the damn permision settings to begin with?

Yes but then it turns off everything, it would be safer and more secure to just get a copy of XP and install it.

TruBluMich
I have used TW Caddie for over a year and it has worked great. Thanks for a great program. Hope you got my donation. It is well worth more than what I sent.
Now, for the problem. I was anaylizing files a few days ago and it locked up after running for a few minutes, no error messages. Just quit and only way I could shut it down was with windows task manager.
After that I can't even acces the program. When I click on it, it doesn't do anything. Just ignored me completely....lol
I unintalled and reinstalled twice and still can't get it to do anything. I'm running Vista 32. 4 gig ram and 500 gig hard drive.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Hi...

This was posted in forum, by Trublumich :

The program needs to have permission from the first time you install it. UAC Creates registery entries for each individual user and denies access to the keys Tiger Woods 08 uses to read courses from.

Simply put here is how to fix every single issue that Vista users have encountered. MAKE SURE THE PROGRAM HAS ADMINISTRATION PRIVILEGES.

So how do you do that you ask?

Browse to the folder you installed TW Caddie 08 usally:
C://Program Files/CourseDownloads.com/TW Caddie 08

Locate the following file:
TW Caddie 08.exe

(;VISTA 64 BETA)
TW Caddie 08 Vista 64.exe

Right Click on that file and select Properties.

With properties Open select the tab labeled Compatibility

In the Compatibility screen you will see a option near the bottom that says:
Run This Program as Administrator

Check the box and click Apply and then OK. As the manual says you the program MUST BE RAN AS AN ADMINISTER. IN XP just being logged in as an Admin is enough. Vista on the other hand you have to tell it to run as an Administer.

This has fixed 99.9% of all reported problems with TW Caddie and Vista.

Okay got the idea of this now go into the game folder and find the EXE file open properties and go to security and click admin user, then install all the games again that did not install. Funny before the game showed in the menu but after it vanishes! so you need to reload it to see it there and this time it will load no problem, this forum is great for solutions!

THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

It worked. I had files that were showing up in TWCaddie, but not recognized in the game. When trying to install the course, it said I had to uninstall the library first. Really weird stuff.....anyways, enabling the Run as admin fix worked.
