This par 71 is well designed but is not overly difficult, with wide and undulating fairways, especially on the front 9, but it has some nice finishing and tougher holes with some elevation changes and a few rocks and water hazards to watch for. After a couple of easy par-4 holes (1st, 2nd) with wide fairways and greens surrounded by small mounds, you will first face the lake on the left dogleg par-4 3rd, when hitting your approach shot to the slightly-elevated green, with the water a little bit further to the right. The par-4 4th hole is “slightly straight” (as the commentators would say) with the lake on the right and behind the green, with a small pond to the left, unlike the right dogleg par-4 6th, quite nice with a downhill tee shot over some ditch, filled with bushes, a narrow fairway with a bunker in the corner, and a small hill along on the left side. The par-5 7th hole, on another hand, is quite short and, with its slightly-downhill tee shot and uphill approach to the elevated green, should offer you a nice eagle opportunity. The dogleg par-4 8th hole is quite picturesque with a downhill tee shot over a narrow and deep ditch to reach the undulating fairway, an elongated lake on the left in the corner, and a sloping green (to the right), where you will have to be very careful when putting if you don’t want to feel sorry on this seemingly-easy hole ! As for the par-3 9th hole, it is very short (less than 100 yards) with a gazebo and a stone house above the green, to the left and behind it. After the right dogleg par-5 10th hole, and the two right dogleg par-4 11th and 12th holes, I like the short (about 360 yards) right dogleg par-4 14th, with a blind downhill tee shot dropping sharply halfway through, with trees on the right, hiding the green below. But the best holes are yet to come... On the par-4 15th hole, you will need to hit a downhill tee shot followed by an approach shot over a small u-shaped canyon filled with water, not far from the green, whereas on the short (less than 360 yards) par-4 16th, you will have to hit a... short tee shot to avoid landing in the big pond across in front of the green. Finally, after the right dogleg par-5 17th hole, with its steep downhill tee shot and its 6 shallow bunkers around the elevated green, you will need to hit an uphill tee shot to reach the elevated green of the par-3 18th, set on a rocky plateau (with the gazebo and the stone house behind). Overall, even though this Lake Mere course plays very smoothly, I would not put it at the top of my list of Chimaera's best designs, but that does not mean it is not worth playing, considering the time and efforts that he took to make it !

Again a nice Martijn Hover course....(?) Some unsound looking little trees along the waterside (recently planted?), but if I could rate it (why is the rating turned of?), it certainly is a four stars course.....

The library is listed on the course page. Over the weekend something happened to the library entry in our database and it wasn't showing properly. It should show now.

I played only the front nice layout but some just evil pins had it set for moderate pins and dry but greens play more like very dry. ( I play expert 3 click) I had no issues as far as loading between holes just not keen about the speed of these dry greens or some of the pin placements

Nice course plays well, only problem for me. It loads each hole so slow, not had this problem for awhile on any course.
