Gli Ulivi Golf & Country Club is a fictional course located in central Italy, at the foot of the hill of the town of Assisi, a wonderful location for golf enthusiasts.
The course stretches across rolling hills and olive groves, with panoramic views of the Umbrian countryside that will make your round of golf an unforgettable experience.
After your round, you can relax in our clubhouse, where you can taste local specialities.
Course notes (I suggest you play from the tournament tees):
Hole 1 - Par 4: the opening hole is a short par 4 that can be played in three ways: a short iron, away from the hazards, followed by a more challenging second shot to the elevated green; a precise hybrid/long iron shot in the narrow middle area between bunkers and trees; a long drive over the left trees that will put you within a pitch from the flag (watch out for the penalty area in the ditch in front of the green!). If played with precision you will have an excellent birdie opportunity, but if you make a mistake you could start your round very badly.
Hole 2 - Par 4: Another hole that, if played well, can be easy. A long iron in the middle fairway gives you the best position for the approach to the green, but, if the wind allows, you can also try a drive to the right side, over the bunker and trees. You can have an excellent birdie opportunity.
Hole 3 - Par 3: Don't be intimidated by the bunkers scattered around the green. Par shouldn't be a problem.
Hole 4 - Par 5: The green can be reached in two shots, but be careful: with the driver, you have to hit the fairway through the narrows caused by the islet of bunkers and rough in the middle of the course. If you opt for a shorter but easier first shot, be careful not to position yourself too close to the trees or too far from the green, otherwise you will have to play the second shot in the middle of the fairway, at the foot of the hillock. The eagle is possible, but some risk must be taken.
Hole 5 - Par 4: Dogleg left. With a precise first shot in front of the bunker you are perfectly positioned to reach the green. You can also try a long tee shot and, from the far end of the fairway, aim for the green leaving the trees to your left, but if you exceed 320 yards you risk ending up in the wheat field below. It is not a difficult hole and there is a good chance of scoring a birdie.
Hole 6 - Par 3: Uphill hole that should not give you too many problems. In case of wind, the choice of iron is critical. Even with the flag positioned behind the right mound, par is within your reach.
Hole 7 - Par 4: Blind tee shot. If you place the ball in the middle of the fairway with the driver, you should have no problem closing par or better. You can also approach it more cautiously, with a shorter first shot behind the bunker.
Hole 8 - Par 5: With the driver you should easily hit the fairway. On the second shot you can either dare and aim for the flag, or play an iron before the narrow gap that leads to the green. Beware of the slope of the green, don''t be distracted by the landscape! Scoring an eagle is very difficult.
Hole 9 - Par 4: Downhill hole. If you land in the middle of the fairway with the driver, the second shot should be fairly easy, but to get a birdie, you must be accurate. Watch out for bunkers in front of the green, especially if you have strong winds against you and if you were short with your first shot.
Hole 10 - Par 4: From the islet it is best not to risk the drive and play a hybrid/long iron into the middle of the fairway. Watch out for bunkers to the right and the slope of the green.
Hole 11 - Par 4: There are no bunkers but pay attention to the slope to the right of the fairway. The second shot is uphill and could be particularly difficult if the flag is placed at the far left because there is a deep rough area in front.
Hole 12 - Par 5: The hole is on multiple levels. The teeshot is blind and distance control is critical. If you position yourself well after the first shot, you can either risk a second shot to the green or a comfortable iron to the end of the second fairway. Watch out for deep greens bunkers.
Hole 13 - Par 3: Don''t be distracted by the bunkers that pay homage to St Francis of Assisi on this long downhill Par 3. You should have no trouble reaching the green but be careful to choose the right club to avoid a three putt bogey.
Hole 14 - Par 4: Keep to the left and with a second shot arrive in the middle of the green. Par is a good score.
Hole 15 - Par 4: Straight uphill hole. Try to keep to the left with your drive, but watch out for bunkers. The second shot is not easy because the green is uphill. If the green is very fast, you should be happy to get a par.
Hole 16 - Par 5: Last par 5. Consider carefully where it is best to aim with the driver: you must avoid the bunker on the right but try not to position yourself exactly in front of one of the two central trees. There is a good chance of reaching the green on the second shot with a long iron but you must make a blind shot over the mound and the bunker of the second fairway. A more cautious approach with a second shot to the left could also offer you a good birdie chance.
Hole 17 - Par 3: A short par 3 requiring great accuracy and touch, particularly when the green is very fast: a long shot will roll the ball into the water down the slope, a short one with too much spin will drop it into the bunker.
Hole 18 - Par 4: If your round didn''t go too well, you can play all-in, trying to reach the green with the driver and score an eagle. Otherwise you can still take an aggressive approach, targeting the tree at the end of the fairway with the driver or a hybrid and look for a birdie. If you don''t want to take a risk, an iron to the middle fairway followed by an iron to the green will give you the opportunity to close a two putt par.
I tried to imagine a course that would be realistic, but also creative. I hope you enjoy it!
